Open cloze

Every year in June, the small town of Harwick holds a festival to celebrate the start of summer. It began more than fifty years ago, when a group of farmers decided to sell their vegetables in the main square. Today the festival is much bigger, and thousands of visitors come from all 1. the country. The most popular event is the boat race on the river. Teams have to build their own boats, and they are only allowed to use things that people have thrown away, 2. as old bottles and wooden boxes. Most of the boats sink before they reach the finish line, 3. is the part everybody enjoys watching! In the evening there is a concert in the park. Entry is free, but visitors are asked to give some money to the local school if they 4. afford it. If you are planning to go this year, it’s a good idea to book a hotel 5. soon as possible, because rooms in the town go quickly. You should also bring a raincoat, 6. the weather in June can be very wet.
